Alfred and Myrtle Huddleston Memorial Scholarship

Alfred and Myrtle Huddleston Memorial Scholarship

The Myrtle B. and Alfred R. Huddleston Memorial Scholarship fund was established to assist selected individuals who are pursuing a degree at York Technical College in an Allied Health field. This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Huddleston. In 1995, their estate made a significant donation to the York Technical College Foundation to provide scholarships for students in health related programs, particularly nursing. Alfred and Myrtle spent most of their life in Rock Hill.

Al, for many years, ran “Al’s Drive In,” a restaurant on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. Myrtle served as a secretary to the chairman of First Federal for many years. The Huddlestons were dedicated members of the St. Johns Methodist Church and active in the community. They were very thankful for what they received. They believed in hard work and sharing the many blessings God had given them. This scholarship established for deserving and hard working York Technical College students as a means to make sure that a student’s financial resources would not be a barrier to completing their program of study.
