
Gerald Patrick "Geep" Gorman Memorial Endowment
The York Technical College is pleased to offer the Gerald Patrick “Geep” Gorman Memorial Endowment. This permanently endowed fund was established by the Solomon family in memory of Mr. “Geep” Gorman. This endowment will be used to sustain and improve computer technology education. Mr. Gorman was a native of Tully, New York, was Vice President of Microfilm World and Imaging Industries, a consortia of imaging companies serving southeastern states. He was a successful sales manager winning the Kodak Award from 1994 to 1997. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where he served as a youth group leader. He was also active in community organizations and worked with the York Technical College Foundation to raise scholarship funds through the annual Dawn to Dusk Golf Marathon.
A family man with one daughter and a successful business career, Mr. Gorman had an intense interest in technology. He had a love for learning and a passion for computing and special imaging applications. Because of this intense interest in the rapidly evolving world of computing, this endowment is established to provide ongoing support for such things as: Faculty Professional Development, equipment, and scholarships for students in the computer technology discipline. It is the goal of this endowment to help keep the York Technical College computer technology programs as close as possible to state-of-the-art.
Criteria:
- This scholarship is provided to prospective students or present students who are either full-time or part-time at York Technical College who have financial need and show the potential of succeeding in computer technology field.
- Recommended students should have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
