Dr. Baxter M. Hood Memorial Fund
This fund was created to provide assistance to selected students of Early Childhood Development Students by Dr. Baxter M. Hood. He served for two decades as President of York Technical College, one of the region’s premier post-secondary educational institutions. He was a man whose presence inspired others.
A resident of Rock Hill from 1961 until his death, Dr. Hood became President of York Technical College in 1970, although he had been a key administrator since joining the College in 1964.
Whether it was literacy training through private industry, training employees for new industry, computerized remedial instruction for high school students or making college’s resources available to the private sector, Dr. Hood was devoted to and confident in the institution and what could be accomplished in its future.
