
Zona Neal Lane Nursing Scholarship
The York Technical College Foundation is pleased to offer the Zona Neal Lane Scholarship Fund for Nursing. The purpose of this program is to assist selected individuals who are pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing. This scholarship was established in the memory of Zona Neal Lane on the 100th anniversary of her birth, July 15, 1995. She was born and reared in Newberry, South Carolina, the daughter of John Calvin Neal and Mary Elizabeth Griffin. She was a member of the Newberry ARP Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederate Army. Her husband, Ernest M. Lane died in 1918 leaving her with four small children to rear, each of whom received a college education. She was a firm believer in being prepared for life and she believed that education was the basis for a successful career. In honor of her dedication, her son, arnest M. and his wife Mary Evelyn, have established this scholarship.
Criteria:
- Students must have a financial need, good grades, and demonstrated leadership qualities.
- A letter of recommendation, a statement of career goals, and, for freshman applicants, a high school transcript must be attached to be considered for this scholarship.
